Ilford station provides fast links (14 minutes) to Liverpool Street and is minutes from Stratford and the Olympics. Crossrail will have an important station at Ilford and it will be its principal Eastern hub during the early phases.

Crossrail will be the new high frequency railway for London and the South East. From 2017 Crossrail will travel from Maidenhead and Heathrow Airport in the west, to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east via new twin tunnels under central London. It will link Heathrow Airport, the West End, the City of London and Canary Wharf. The new Crossrail will further enhance the speed and ease of travelling from Ilford and will operate with main line size trains, carrying more than 1500 passengers in each train during peak periods.
